The College of Health Sciences at New England Tech is proud to have partnerships with hospitals and practices all over New England employing many of our graduates. Our programs are taught by industry-expert faculty leaders, many of which still continue practicing in their respective fields today, and are passionate to help and mentor you every step of the way.

Meet Our CHS Department Chairs

  • Magali Angeloni, DrPH, MBA | Master in Public Health

    Magali Angeloni is the Director of the Master of Public Health (MPH) online program at 麻豆传媒视频’s College of Health Sciences. She practiced public health for over 24 years at a state health department, in various positions including Deputy Chief of Environmental Health, Manager of the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program, Operations Manager of KIDSNET (RI鈥檚 childhood immunizations鈥 registry), and most recently Academic Center Director. As Director of the Academic Center, Magali led the public health accreditation process that ultimately accredited the health department in late 2015.

    Dr. Angeloni is also a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) consultant and offers training, mentorship and coaching to students and professionals in CQI tools and performance improvement. Additionally, she is President of Ecuador Cultural Alliance (ECA), a nonprofit organization that promotes education of low-income children attending rural schools in Ecuador.

    Magali holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Providence College and a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her research interests include public health workforce development, interprofessional education, quality and performance improvement and online education.

  • Mary Benn, MSN | Practical Nurse Certificate

    Mary Benn, MSN, DNP-candidate, RN, CDOE is currently named the LPN Program Director for New England Institute of Technology (麻豆传媒视频). Formerly, Director of Nursing at Lincoln Technical Institute in Lincoln, Rhode Island where she held the position for the past 6 陆 years and achieved ACEN accreditation for their program. She is a graduate of Helene Fuld School of Nursing in Camden, New Jersey where she had full scholarship and received a Diploma in Nursing. She holds a master鈥檚 in nursing with the focus in Nursing Education, a bachelor鈥檚 in nursing from South University in Savannah, Georgia and was Sigma Theta Tau Honors/Dean鈥檚 List throughout the program. She is completing her DNP at Aspen University. She has been a Certified Diabetic Outpatient Educator since 2004. She served as Nursing Coordinator at the University of Rhode Island and as Academic and Fieldwork Coordinator at New England Institute of Technology.

    Mary Benn has many years of trauma and cardiac care nursing. She is a member of the MARILN Practical Nursing Education Committee. She is a volunteer as NCSBN PN Item Writer for the NCLEX exam and ACEN Peer Reviewer. She has several years of curriculum development, implementation, and meeting program compliance for all standards of accreditation. She is excited to be back at 麻豆传媒视频 to develop the LPN program and accreditation standards for the school.

  • Paula Cantwell, MS | Biological Sciences

    Paula Cantwell is the Chair of the Department of Biological Sciences within 麻豆传媒视频鈥檚 College of Health Sciences. She started at 麻豆传媒视频 in 1994 and has developed numerous courses within the BIO Department to suit the needs of the many Health Science Departments.

    She earned an Associate in Science degree from Holyoke Community College in Veterinary Science and a Bachelor of Science from Westfield State University in Biology/Microbiology. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a master鈥檚 degree in Adult Education from the University of Rhode Island.

    Paula started as an LPN, and after becoming a Registered Nurse, spent over 25 years in clinical Nursing, including Emergency Room, Cardiac, and Home IV Therapy settings. She also worked as a Veterinary Technologist in both large animal and small animal practices. She worked as a Research Associate at Brown University, investigating the effects of environmental chemicals on the genetic makeup of fruit flies.

    Paula is a charter member of 麻豆传媒视频鈥檚 Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and is a Certified Master Gardener.

  • Elizabeth Raposa, DNP, MSN, ACNP-BC, CCRN | Nursing

    Dr. Elizabeth Raposa is the Director of Nursing and Assistant Professor at 麻豆传媒视频鈥檚 College of Health Sciences. She is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island School of Nursing in Kingston, RI, where she earned her聽Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She received her Master鈥檚 Degree at the University of Massachusetts in Worcester, MA, with a specialty as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, and her Doctoral Degree at American Sentinal University out of Aurora, Colorado, with a DNP in Educational Leadership.

    Dr. Raposa鈥檚 clinical experience started as a critical care registered nurse, then transitioned to the advanced practice role as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner after she received her Master’s Degree. She has worked as a nurse practitioner in Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgical critical care and Hospitalist Internal medicine for over a decade now in multiple healthcare settings across the northeast, including small community hospitals and large tertiary care centers.

  • Carol Doehler, OTD | Post-Professional Occupational Therapy Doctorate

    Dr. Carole Doehler is the Department Chair of the Post-Professional of Occupational Therapy Doctorate degree program at New England Institute of Technology. Dr. Doehler earned her undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy and has dedicated her professional life to developing new programs to enhance various populations in reaching their occupational goals.

    Her clinical work is centered on community-based practices in underserved populations both in the United States and abroad.聽 Her passion is teaching new practitioners for today鈥檚 occupational needs.聽 She is President of Therapy Missions, Inc., a non-profit agency providing education and training in occupational therapy care to underserved regions worldwide.

    Dr. Doehler provides consultation services to schools seeking accreditation from ACOTE. She is a Fellow of the American Occupational Therapy Association, earning this distinction for her occupational therapy practice and education development.聽 She is also the recipient of the Irene Allard Award for her excellence in her contribution to fieldwork education.聽 She is an active member of ACOTE, serving as past Vice-Chair of the council, and still functions as a member of the Roster of Accreditation Evaluators as a mentor to new team leaders.

  • Randal Fedoruk, OTD | Master of Science in Occupational Therapy

    Dr. Randal Fedoruk is the Department Chair for the Master in Occupational Therapy program at 麻豆传媒视频’s College of Health Sciences and聽has been practicing as a pediatric occupational therapist for over twenty years. He has experience working with infants, toddlers, and school-age children. He has expertise in working with medically complex or medically fragile infants and toddlers and graduates from the NICU.

    He has an extensive knowledge base and experience in conducting early intervention programs across three states and school-based evaluations in several school districts. Randal has taught at numerous colleges and universities before joining the faculty at 麻豆传媒视频. He teaches courses in neuroscience, theory of frames of reference, advanced practice skills, and pediatrics. Dr. Fedoruk has lectured at national and international conferences. He provides continuing education seminars and workshops to other professionals as well as mentoring and consultative services.

    He continues to sit as a board of director on non-profit agencies that provide services to persons with developmental disabilities.

  • Christopher Hannafin, DVM | Veterinary Technology

    Dr. Christopher Hannafin is the Department Chair and Assistant Professor for the Veterinary Technology program at 麻豆传媒视频’s College of Health Sciences. He received his Doctorate of Veterinarian Medicine at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine.

    Dr. Hannafin also continues his practice at New Shoreham Veterinary Services providing mobile livestock, exotic, zoo, companion animal and consultation services to Rhode Island and Massachusetts farms, veterinary practices and teaching institutions.

    With over 30 years practicing in the veterinary field, he has participated on many veterinary board membership committees and currently participates on the AVMA HOD RI Alternate Delegate and Reference Committees.

    When Dr. Hannafin isn’t teaching or practicing, he loves salt water fishing, hiking, skiing, and lacrosse.

  • Paul Mangino, Jr., EdD, RRT | Respiratory Care

    Dr. Paul Mangino, Jr. is the founding department chair and program director of 麻豆传媒视频鈥檚 College of Health Sciences Respiratory Care program. Dr. Mangino has over 20 of experience as a registered respiratory therapist in clinical practice and education. Dr. Mangino received his Bachelor of Science Degree in the Cardiopulmonary Sciences at Northeastern University, a Master of Education in Teaching & Learning, and his Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership at Johnson & Wales University.

  • Patricia McGee, O.T.R./L. | Occupational Therapy Assistant

    On campus, Patricia (Trish) McGee serves as the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program Coordinator and faculty advisor for the Student Occupational Therapy Association.聽 Trish was awarded the Dr. Robert Shapiro Teaching Excellence Award in 2018.

    Clinically, Trish remains an active occupational therapy practitioner.聽 She has 17 years of clinical experience working primarily in adult rehabilitation at Southern New England Rehabilitation Center at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital.聽 Her specialty area is neurorehabilitation.聽 Trish also worked as a consultant for the State of Rhode Island, Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals, delivering occupational therapy services to adult forensic, Geri-psychiatric, and complex medical patients in a long-term care setting.

    Trish received both her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Sacred Heart University.

  • Laurie Miner Moretti, PT, PhD | Physical Therapist Assistant

    Laurie Miner, PhD, PT is Department Chair and Associate Professor in the Physical Therapist Assistant Department at 麻豆传媒视频’s College of Health Sciences. She has a BS in physical therapy from Ithaca College, MS in education from the University at Albany, and a PhD in curriculum design and instructional technology from the University at Albany.

    Dr. Miner has been a Physical Therapist for over 35 years, and has practiced in hospital inpatient and outpatient, acute rehabilitation, hospice and private practice settings. She currently provides evaluation and treatment of patients/clients at RI Free Clinic and Andrade Day Program in addition to academic responsibilities. She has participated in many continuing education programs and has been active in the American Physical Therapy Association for over 20 years including past president of APTA of RI. Her scholarly activities include peer-reviewed publications, national and local presentations, and CAPTE onsite review team leader.

  • Elizabeth O’Brien, BSN MS PGx | Medical Assisting & Administration

    Born and raised on Boston鈥檚 North Shore, Elizabeth (Beth) O’Brien attended University of Lowell graduated in 1986. She began work at Massachusetts General Hospital through several roles, finding her niche in the Medical Intensive Care Unit. Other noteworthy clinical positions included St Elizabeth鈥檚 Medical Center Emergency Room and Harvard Clinical Research Institute, DAPT study.

    Taking on teaching in every role, she fell in love with the role as an Instructor for the American Red Cross, and continued at Gibbs College, and several Medical Assisting certificate programs. Joining New England Institute of Technology in 2013, she is now the Department Chair of the Medical Assisting and Administration program, as well as the newly developed Health Science Associates program. During her time at 麻豆传媒视频, she completed a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Pathology (UmassLowell) and a Master鈥檚 Degree of Science in Pharmacogenomics from Manchester University.

    Outside of school, she loves to crochet, and is the proud mother of three children. Her youngest daughter is an 麻豆传媒视频 graduate and is working as an OTA in the Boston area.

  • Lisa Reed RN, MS, CNOR, CPHIMS, CST, FAST | Surgical Technology

    Lisa Reed is the Department Chair for Surgical Technology at 麻豆传媒视频’s College of Health Sciences and began her career in education over 40 years ago as a licensed educator. She pursued a degree in nursing and has over 35 years of experience in the perioperative environment.

    She attended Salve Regina University where she earned her Master of Science degree in Health Services Administration. Lisa developed the Surgical Technology program 27 years ago and has dedicated much of her career improving the quality of the surgical technology profession.

    Lisa has served on many national committees for the surgical technology profession. 聽She is certified as a perioperative registered nurse and surgical technologist.

    She has obtained The Fellow of the Association of Surgical 聽Technologists (FAST) designation which is awarded to recognize those individuals who have upheld the highest professional, ethical and moral standards and traditions of the surgical technology profession, and whose professional activity has been devoted to the advancement of the profession toward improving the quality of surgical patient care. She was awarded the Guiding Star Constellation Award from the Foundation for Surgical Technology.聽 This Award was created to honor educators who have dedicated their career to the surgical technology profession and have been committed to helping students excel for more than 15 years.

  • Rebbecca Silva, EdD | Medical LabTechnician

    Rebbecca Silva is the Department Chair for the Medical Lab Technician program at 麻豆传媒视频’s College of Health Sciences. She graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a BS in Clinical Laboratory Science in 2003 and an MS in Clinical Laboratory Science with a concentration in Biotechnology in 2007.聽 She made the transition to education in 2009 and still practices as a Medical Laboratory Scientist specializing in Hematology and Immunohematology.聽 聽

    Sean Thompson is the Department Chair for the Paramedic Technology program at 麻豆传媒视频’s College of Health Sciences.
